100% Design 2017 | Papilio’s Top Products Last month we visited 100% Design at Olympia London. This event has been running for more than 20 years now and is the cornerstone event of the London Design Festival and the UKs largest design trade show. Each year the event has a theme, which is reflected across its installations, features, talks programmes and show design. For 2017 this is ‘Elements’, which considers everything from the fundamentals of design to the component parts that make up a product, the materials used, to the stories and processes of development. Here are our favourites for 2017… 3S Designwww.3sdesign.euThe product that really caught our attention from 3S Design is the magnetic back splash. This innovation provides a creative and flexible storage solution in the kitchen. The magnetic panel can be fitted against any wall and the various magnetic shelves, hangers, holders and hooks can be arranged and re-arranged in any formation that you fancy.Made from 3mm steel and powder coated, the panels are waterproof, fingerprint and UV resistant. You simply glue them to the wall and the accessories can be purchased individually or made bespoke by us here at Papilio. Alguacil & Perkoffwww.alguacilperkoff.comSuppliers of bespoke decorative and antiqued mirror glass. This stand really caught our attention with the clever back lit mirrors. The geometric etched shapes only became visible when the light was illuminated to dramatic effect. We spent some time discussing the possibilities of using this as a back splash in one of our kitchen designs, watch this space…We were also taken by the variety of antiqued mirror effects that Alguacil & Perkoff were able to offer, even more so that the antiquing can be applied in specific areas of the mirror, resolving the problem of visibility as the actual viewing part of the mirror (usually the centre) can be left clear thus not distorted by the blemishes of an antiqued mirror. Dowsing & Reynoldswww.dowsingandreynolds.comDowsing & Reynolds are lighting specialists set up by James (Dowsing-Reynolds) who has a love for industrial-style lighting. The business was started from James’s early concrete sculptures which he produced in his spare time, and eventually created his first concrete light, from which Dowsing & Reynolds was born. The company sells gorgeous vintage light bulbs, hardware and lighting accessories. The thing that really captured our imagination were the array of light switches, dimmers and plug sockets. Their selection of affordable designer light switches are of exceptional quality and truly unique. The range offers a variety of options within each category, we were particularly impressed with the “Smoked Gold” and “Black”. Contemporary Chandelier Companywww.contemporarychandeliercompany.co.ukAn impressive selection of oversized lighting features took up most of the Contemporary Chandelier Company’s stand. We thought that the Jellyfish Chandelier deserved a mention – a seductive blend of the latest LED technology with a refined aesthetic, creating unique & fun lighting. We’ve included a video as this is too good to miss.
