Luxury Kitchen Design - Natural Wooden Kitchen - Papilio Kitchens

The luxury bespoke kitchen of the future

When you first start looking at possibilities for a new kitchen the options can seem dazzling. Ultramodern or classic? Shaker or Scandinavian? A contemporary kitchen or something with some history to it?

Thankfully, Papilio bespoke kitchens can ensure design and function meet perfectly. You’ll get the style you crave and the features you need.

It’s also natural to wonder what might be just around the corner in terms of kitchen design and technology. We’re known for our trendsetting designs and future-gazing is all in a days work for our designers.

Forget cooking robots and AI fridges (but they are coming!), how will kitchens of the future look, what will be cooking and how will we spend our time in them?

The Kitchen as a space to be

It’s common for our clients to brief us on how they want to use their kitchen space. Of course, there is cooking and eating, but also entertaining and spending family time. This trend for a kitchen becoming a “space for everything “ is set to continue and grow in the future.

Future kitchen design will not only take aesthetics and function into account but also emotional value, supporting its use as a space for relaxing and well being.

Our copper kitchen was designed with multi use elements for use in cooking and entertainment.

From a design perspective, this might mean zoning off areas or making more space available. Or it may be about building in bespoke furniture or hiding a projector away out of sight until needed.

A place to experiment

It’s not just Heston that likes to experiment in the kitchen. Most cooks we know like to play around with getting that new dish just right. Experimentation will be at the forefront of trends that move from professional kitchens to domestic ones.

Sustainability remains a big topic and how we get our food, and what we do with it, are issues that speak to most people with a passion for cooking. The ‘nose to tail” movement of a few years ago never left and ‘fin-to-gill’ is also now popular. Using the whole animal is not always easy from a culinary standpoint, but it lessens the impact eating animals has on the environment and can be downright delicious too.

An even greater impact will be made in the future from cultured meat and 3D printed food (yes, that’s a thing). While this might sound like the antithesis of real cooking, it’s a direction that the kitchen needs to be ready for. It’s not here quite yet, but our designers are already mulling over what a kitchen in, say, 2030 might look like from an appliances point of view.

A kitchen, then, is many different things to many different people. By their nature, contemporary kitchens must evolve with the challenges presented by today, and factor in those of tomorrow. Our designers love to look ahead to the future of the kitchen and when it arrives, we’ll be ready.
