The Clifton Kitchen
This luxurious new build home located in Clifton, one of Bristol most prestigious areas.
This exceptional building offers expansive spaces awash with light, clean uncluttered lines and swathes of pristine white wall space.
The Brief
The brief was to add character, and here Papilio showcase their ability to totally ‘transform spaces’ mixing traditional cabinet making with a variety of materials to produce awe inspiring bejewelled schemes that add incredible warmth and intrigue to the blankest of canvasses.
The Kitchen Design
The kitchen material palette comprised of oak door fronts with a heavy grain and slight texture to the finish laid, out in a plank style. The stone mullion windows with black metal frames where a very prominent feature to the room so we complimented them with the gnarled black cabinet handles and taps.
In contrast the peninsular and coffee / breakfast station is adorned with some of the finest American walnut available in the UK. Each door front perfectly book matched, enflamed with a rich golden patina. Highlighted beautifully with strategically placed lighting
The Kitchen Worktops
The worktops for the preparation areas in the kitchen are in a porcelain by Neolith and the peninsular and coffee / breakfast station are in Italian Carrara marble again exquisite examples with rich veining.
Moving further around the room there is a serious of storage cabinets which have all been finished in antiqued brass. The patina on the doors comes to life as the sun bounces off them from the huge sliding patio doors.
Next we arrive at the bar, finished in walnut and polished brass with double thickness marble worktops with Papilios signature ice trough. The tall cabinets showcase the Papilio duo’s incredible skill with wood, metal and glass; blending the 3 materials with perfection, finishing with elegant bespoke brass handles
Features and Appliances
Hidden behind the bar is wine storage along with a wine fridge, beer fridge, glass washer and sink. The finishing touch is the discrete lighting incorporated into the cabinetry, in particular washing down the front face picking out the walnut ribbed effect which is backed onto polished brass.
The appliances throughout the kitchen are by Miele and include steam oven and a vacuum drawer for sous vide or for longevity of perishables in the freezer. The breakfast bar provides a great space for socialising whilst the chef potters in the kitchen which the oversize brass plinth and hand-blown lights add intrigue.
Functionality
The space dedicated to coffee and breakfast features tap by zip providing instant boiling water for hot drinks and if that isn’t enough it also dispenses chilled and sparkling water. Hidden in the side of the tall cabinet is a removable panel which doubles an access point to the bread bin and a bread board.
This space embodies the saying “the kitchen is the hub of the home” as this hub is truly beating. A spectacular multipurpose space for the whole family to enjoy for years to come.
