Kitchens for Entertaining this Christmas

Kitchens for Entertaining this Christmas

The kitchen is always the heart of the home, but never more so than during the festive season. We all love a dining room on the big day, but the modern festive gathering invariably gravitates to the source of the action, the cheer, and, most importantly, the food!

The best luxury kitchens aim to impress, but they should also offer busy families space to entertain, so everyone has a part to play in the everyday and on Christmas Day.

Here are three examples of our favourite kitchens where entertaining is at the forefront of the bespoke design.

The Copper Kitchen in Somerset

Bespoke Copper Kitchen Design - Farmhouse Style Kitchen Papilio Kitchens

The Copper Kitchen in Somerset is a project that included our client’s love of entertaining (and champagne!) in the brief. We designed a bespoke kitchen featuring solid timbers, walnut and oak, engineered Neolith, and copper as a significant feature. To fulfil the champagne part of the brief, we created a bespoke copper ice trough/sink set into the copper-clad kitchen island. The trough has multiple uses, ranging from chilling wine and food to a place to grow culinary herbs.

The copper theme continued into the drinks cabinet, using the material for the worktop. The wine fridge was positioned centrally in the furniture, and a freezer for ice was also integrated as the perfect location for mixing a cocktail or two. The luxury kitchen is ideal for everyday use for the modern family, but it is specially designed for entertaining.

Mid-Century Inspired Kitchen in Somerset

For our Mid-Century Inspired Kitchen in Somerset project, we designed a tailored solution as part of an ambitious renovation that combined two dwellings into one space, bringing the kitchen to the heart of the family home. The open-plan space boasts two kitchen islands and a sitting and dining area, perfect for gatherings. The seating zone is intentionally designed for family time and entertaining. Mid-century styling complements the multifunctional kitchen, which features red-tinted teak, low perimeter cabinets, and golden tones of American black walnut, topped with cool Carrara marble, creating a luxury kitchen ideal for gatherings.

The Clifton Kitchen in Bristol

Clifton Kitchen Design in Bristol - Papilio Kitchens

For our Clifton Kitchen project in Bristol, we designed and built a stunning luxury kitchen for a sizable new-build home. The expansive, light-filled space, with clean, uncluttered lines, was a blank canvas that needed character and style. So, we transformed it into our client’s favourite room in the house. The kitchen comprises golden oak with heavy grain, black cabinet handles and taps, and the finest American walnut and Italian Carrara marble for the peninsula and coffee/breakfast station. But the special feature was the bar, finished in walnut and polished brass with Papilio’s signature ice trough. The bespoke bar included tall cabinets featuring wood, metal, and glass, as well as elegant, handmade brass handles. Behind the bar, we designed wine storage and installed a wine fridge, a beer fridge, a glass washer, and a sink. The finishing touches included discrete lighting integrated into the cabinetry, all ideal for making cocktails for family and friends, especially during the festive season.
