Kitchen Hardware – It’s All About the Finish

We love discussing kitchen hardware, and it’s more than just accessorising for us because knobs, taps and sockets can make an impactful and long-lasting difference in the overall finish of a bespoke kitchen. Kitchen hardware should be functional, but it can also accentuate the overall look of a kitchen. Hardware can intentionally create contrast and highlight particular finishes or shades of colour, but it can also harmoniously blend into the cabinetry with distinct subtlety.

When considering a new bespoke kitchen, choosing kitchen hardware can be a bit of a conundrum! There are many styles, finishes and trends from satin, brush, chrome, brass, patina for knobs, taps and sockets. Our favourite hardware brands include contemporary classics by Joseph Giles, luxury brass by Armac Martin, and traditional, handcrafted metal hardware by farmer turned designer Jim Lawrence. Our team at Papilio Bespoke Kitchens has also designed and fabricated our very own bespoke handles and other hardware too, and our Richlite kitchen is an excellent example of that. For our Clifton Kitchen project in Bristol, we created hardware using antiqued brass, which, rather nicely, set off the cabinetry’s industrious and textural Buster & Punch handles.

Our bespoke kitchen team worked on several projects in Bath, Somerset that particularly highlight stunning kitchen hardware. The projects also show why we believe kitchen hardware can make your designer kitchen entirely unique and even more beautiful. The Kitchen in Bath project was all about the finish, and kitchen hardware was as important to us in the design process as the cabinetry, worktops and colours used. Along with the client, we selected reeded draw pulls, large Napier knobs, and larder drawer pulls by Jim Lawrence, all with an antiquated finish that worked so beautifully with the marble worktops and Sabinal finish in the kitchen.

The Scullery in Bath design project featured dark green Farrow and Ball ‘Bancha’ paint, and we hand-painted all the cabinetry. The golden oak worktops were enhanced with brass Armac Martin hardware and a chunky eye line shelf with brass rails and hooks for jugs and utensils. So, not only is the space cleverly functional but rather attractive too.

At Papilio, we believe in excellence and attention to detail at every stage of the kitchen design process. From the initial consultation to the very last finish, our team prides itself in offering the best bespoke kitchen design service.
