One of the great things about living in Frome is the brilliant sense of community amongst the locals. It’s a creative town, making it such an exciting place to live and work as designers. As well as our kitchen tips and insight, we want to bring the Frome community to our blog too, so you’ll be seeing more from local businesses and events coming up in the area.
One of the upcoming arrangements is the Frome Open Studios, now in its 9th year and will be taking place from 2–10 July. The opportunity allows designers, makers and artists of the local area to get involved with venues and show their work to locals and tourists, which I’m sure we can all agree is a nice way to showcase what and whom Frome has to offer.
Having started with just a small number of creatives on board, the event now boasts over 68 artists in 24 venues, so plenty of inspiration to be found and lots of lovely local people to chat to. It’s also sponsored by Frome Festival and Frome FM so there’s lots of coverage for everyone involved.
This year Frome Open Studios are also collaborating with Black Swan Arts to bring a Secret Swans art trail, a walk discovering 30 different swan-inspired artworks, all to celebrate and raise funds for Black Swan Arts 30th anniversary. We’ll certainly be seeing what we can find on route.
You can currently pick up a free copy of the Arts Trail Map from Black Swan Arts, Cheese & Grain, Frome Library, Frome Festival Office, The Golden Goose, Postcript, Studio Prints, Enigma Pottery, Eagle Lane Emporium, The Archangel and Ellenbray so keep your eyes peeled.
We’d also recommend popping by to Divas Café on the 24th June between 6-8 so that you can see a selection of the exhibitors’ work and get a taster of what will be on offer from July 2nd – see you there!
