Five shops to visit in Bath, Somerset

Along with our smaller neighbouring towns, we’re also very close to some slightly bigger cities such as Bath & Bristol, which are both great fro scenic views and wonderful architecture. While it’s great to be so close to some of the bigger high street stores, it’s also important to us to find and support the hidden gems of the city. The places where the customer service is impeccable, the knowledge is varied and the products are unique. We’ve rounded up our favourite stores in Bath for your visiting pleasure.

HAY

The HAY store is a Danish design mecca, a modern shop that we love to visit every time we’re in the Bath area. The contemporary design brand works with some pretty huge designers and you may have recently seen their new bag design for IKEA! From their functional furniture to their huge range of super trendy accessories and seemingly never ending scissor collection, it’s amazing to have such a design-led store, with the complete collection of products so close to us.

FOUND

FOUND is a contemporary design store stocking menswear, womenswear, homeware and accessories. They stock a selected range of independent brands in their beautiful contemporary store which is always a pleasure to visit. We love discovering new things and FOUND is just the store to help us out with that. We’re also fans of their blog so make sure you have a read to get to know them a little more.

Great Western Wine

Great Western Wine is a treasure trove of the fine stuff we like so much. We host our own wine tasting club every so often, where every guest brings their own bottle and we test out all of the latest wines, it’s why we love making spaces to entertain in so much as we love to have fun with guests ourselves! Great Western Wine seeks out independent hand-crafted wines from across the world and brings them to the residents of Bath along with some highly coveted and rare spirits. The service is superb and we know if you’re a wine fanatic, you’ll feel right at home.

The Fine Cheese Company

You can’t have wine without some cheese right? The Fine Cheese Co stocks over 100 different cheeses including lots of local produce so we always pop in if we’re due to be hosting guests. The staff are very knowledgeable and are sure to know the perfect bold cheese to match your red wine or the perfect prosecco for your cheese after-party. You’ll be a cheese connoisseur in no time at all.

Verve Living

Again located in Bath’s artisan quarter, Verve Living is an independent furniture and lighting store, which also stocks homeware too. The concept is to show furniture as it would be in a home so everything is styled to perfection as if it were a home itself. Every piece has been selected for it’s individuality so you’re bound to find something unique and if you’re not sure how to style it up in your own home, just ask for advice – the owners are also interior stylists and run regular workshops and classes.
