Feature Marble in The North London Kitchen

Marble is undoubtedly a timeless classic stone that has adorned kitchens, interiors and architecture for centuries. Its aesthetic is synonymous with luxury and epitomises quality and opulence. It also pleases nature-lovers because no slab of marble is the same. As a beautiful natural material, it is a metamorphic stone mined in the mountains worldwide and is famously found in Italy. Due to its unique composition, it can be shaped and polished to a fantastic finish, making it both versatile and distinctive.

At Papilio Bespoke Kitchens, we have used different marble in multiple bespoke kitchen design projects. One of the most widely used marbles is Carrara, which is considered more budget-friendly, with a white or blue-grey marbling effect. The stunning Italian Calacatta marble is renowned for its milky white background and vibrant veins. In contrast, Arabescato marble is distinguished for its soft white background colouring with bold, dusty grey veining. The latter two are considered most prestigious because of their rarity. We have also worked with lilac marble, a white calcite marble with a greyish-white base and purple-black veining. The beauty of commissioning a bespoke kitchen designer like us is that we can source the ideal marble for your new dream kitchen. Our supplier lists are gold dust, and we know we can trust them through years of partnerships together.

The North London Kitchen

The North London Kitchen

We were chosen to design The North London Kitchen in an impressive property that underwent an extensive renovation. We selected a minimalistic, nature-inspired colour palette featuring marble, oak and black glass. The central focal point in our design is the magnificent, handmade kitchen island, fully cladded in the finest Arabescato marble, with soft, curved edges that add a touch of grace. The marble’s unique patterns beautifully set off the light walls and wooden design features.

The North London Kitchen

To balance the boldness of the bespoke marble kitchen island, our design deliberately intertwined the striking stone within the minimalistic, nature-inspired colour palette. We designed a much-needed walk-in pantry as part of the design. To unite the pantry with the rest of the kitchen space, we created a striking marble-clad archway that leads into the storeroom. The thoughtfully designed area provides ample storage space for kitchen essentials and a concealed Fisher & Paykel freezer, keeping the main kitchen area clutter-free. Further additions of the softly toned yet bold Arabescato marble can be found on the worktops, splashbacks, and floating shelf along the sink run, balancing the oak-finished cabinets, soft, whitewashed walls, and black-tinted glass.

The North London Kitchen is an outstanding example of a union of warming colour tones, natural texture and a sense of lightness. Our bespoke kitchen design creates a harmonious space that feels modern yet timeless thanks to the use of Arabescato marble.
