Entertaining Space in a Designer Kitchen

A kitchen is more than just a place to prepare and eat food. We’re dancing, entertaining, working from our kitchens and sharing them with our families. So when we’re asked to design the perfect luxury kitchen that incorporates space for entertaining, we get excited because we believe that the kitchen is the most important room in the home. And when we’re embarking on a new kitchen design project, we want to create function, style and a little fun too.

At Papilio, we’re seeing an increased demand for entertaining spaces in our kitchens. A designer kitchen should encompass precisely what you want, need and dream of, from exquisite handmade cabinets to showstopping kitchen islands, drinks bars and extra touches that make entertaining special.

Clifton Kitchen in Somerset

For our Clifton Kitchen project in Bristol, we designed and built a stunning designer kitchen in a luxurious new build home. The expansive space, awash with light, clean, uncluttered lines, was a blank canvas that needed character and style. So we transformed it into our client’s favourite room in the house. The kitchen comprises golden oak with heavy grain, black cabinet handles and taps, and the finest American walnut and Italian Carrara marble for the peninsular and coffee/breakfast station. But the cherry on the cake was the bar, finished in walnut and polished brass with Papilio’s signature ice trough. The bespoke bar included tall cabinets featuring wood, metal and glass and elegant handmade brass handles. Behind the bar, we designed wine storage and installed a wine fridge, beer fridge, glass washer and sink. The finishing touches included discrete lighting integrated into the cabinetry, all ideal for making cocktails for family and friends.

For our most recent designer kitchen project, we created a mid-century-inspired kitchen in Bath, Somerset. The ambitious renovation saw two dwellings turn into one space bringing the kitchen into the heart of the family home. The open-plan space boasts two kitchen islands and a sitting and dining area flooded with natural light. The seating zone is intentionally designed for family time and entertaining. Again, mid-century styling matched the comfort of the multifunctional kitchen. Features included red-tinted teak for one of the kitchen islands. Low cabinets along the perimeter and golden tones of American Black Walnut, topped with cool Carrara marble, offered luxury in this designer kitchen.

Kitchen in Bath

For our Kitchen in Bath project in Somerset, two rooms of a grand Victorian villa had been consolidated to create a wonderfully light and open space, perfect for entertaining and preparing meals. Our discerning client wanted to incorporate a drinks bar and area to sit and perch when entertaining, so the original glazed brick chimney breast was utilised. Bringing warm red-brown tones of the original ceramic tiles, we used walnut for the bar with a rounded finish to match the curvature. The back of the bar was finished in an antique glass with a Carrara marble countertop and a Miele wine fridge. Along with the sizable dining table, the designer kitchen in Bath was ideal for everyday use but also perfect for entertaining.
