We love dressing kitchens, and there are many ways to make them unique. From contemporary kitchens to Scandinavian kitchens, personal styling and interior design tastes vary greatly and are very much a personal choice. However, ceramics, textiles, plants and art can turn a kitchen into the family’s favourite room in the house.
Unfortunately, not all designer kitchens are made equal, and many conceal the very essence of a truly bespoke kitchen – your personal style! What makes your family unique is often reflected in your surroundings, reminding you of adventures, treasured memories and the very things that make your home yours.
Over the years, we’ve worked on many designer kitchens. As a result, we have devised numerous features and cabinets to not only display your treasured possessions but to create unique bespoke kitchens that are thoughtful, useful, and entirely bespoke.

We designed a long kitchen cabinet specifically for our client in our Victorian Town House Kitchen project in Plymouth. The property was bursting with original period features, architectural mouldings, stunning bare wood staircase and timber floors, but the kitchen needed a significant rethink. To reflect the homeowner’s brief to create a light, airy space but for somewhere to display a collection of art and unique pieces of kitchenware from the Marimekko design house, we designed a row of low and long parallel kitchen cabinets to achieve just that. The cabinet featured American oak veneer and a floating eye-level cabinet with reeded glass panels framed in brass. As a result, not only did the client have one of our exclusive designs in their bespoke kitchen, but their personal collection of art, homewares, books, and pottery had their very own space.

At Papilio, we love to design bespoke and unique kitchen features to dress kitchens in innovative ways. Another of our signature pieces is our ice trough which can be fabricated from brass, stainless steel or copper. The troughs are designed to lay in-set a work surface and can accommodate many things from ice for oysters or bottles of wine or champagne, but they can also be used to grow herbs. You won’t find the ice trough anywhere else, and in our Copper Kitchen project in Somerset, our bespoke trough sits within the large kitchen island. In contrast, over in Bristol, in our Clifton Kitchen project, the trough rests handsomely in the custom-made bar ready for the cocktail hour.

Undoubtedly, there are hundreds of ways of dressing a kitchen, and if, like us, you believe that the kitchen should be an inspirational space that is both functional and enjoyable, then get in touch. We’ll transform your kitchen into your favourite room in the house.
