Contemporary Kitchen Design - Luxury Bespoke Kitchens by Papilio Kitchens, Somerset

Contemporary Cabinet Handles

When considering a new bespoke kitchen, cabinet handles tend to be one of the last considerations. Yet, the chosen handles could completely transform the overall look of a luxury kitchen design. And because cabinet handles can make or break the tone of the cabinetry, we often discuss handle options with our clients in the early stages of planning their overall kitchen design.

Depending on your dream kitchen and whether you’re wishing for a relaxed and contemporary Scandi-style kitchen or utilising existing period features of the property, we should consider the many styles of handles out there.

If you’re looking to commission a brand-new handmade kitchen, you may already have handles in mind. From finger-pull to flush, knobs or cup handles, t-bar and d-shape and even antique or reclaimed handles, there is a whole world of cabinet handles to be discovered. Trust us, we’ve been there, and we’re a little bit obsessed with it.

Richlite Kitchen

So much so that we have designed our own range of bespoke handles.

We designed the handles for the Richlite Kitchen, which features a sensational island sculpted by hand from a single section of oak. With the addition of exposed finger joint detail and a work surface made from the rather brilliant Richlite. Our handles are a subtle yet functional addition to the overall look, allowing the contrast of natural oak and Richlite to shine.

The Old Rectory Kitchen
The Old Rectory Kitchen

In our Contemporary Kitchen project, aesthetic simplicity and optimum functionality prevailed in a beautiful Somerset countryside home. The remarkable modernist property was designed and built by architects Bob and Tim Organ. The stakes were high if we were to honour the contemporary structure situated in a classic English setting. In keeping with the black aluminium window frames in the large room, and by way of intentional contrast to the simplicity of the Fenix laminate cabinetry, our bespoke folded metal handles were fabricated to last and make a statement.

Clifton Kitchen

For our work on the Clifton Kitchen in Bristol, we used naturally beautiful materials, including American walnut, Italian Carrara marble and polished brass detail. We knew straight away that Buster + Punch handles were the way to finish one luxurious kitchen! The ‘home fashion label’ design and make iconic yet contemporary handles, lighting and accessories. Using rare and solid materials such as steel and bronze, they were the perfect partner for the stunning Clifton Kitchen.
