Clever Storage Features in a Handmade Kitchen

Every kitchen can benefit from clever storage ideas, and we’re just the team to help. Over the years and numerous handmade kitchens later, we’ve created transformational kitchens with storage and function in mind. But, of course, the more innovative and multi-functional kitchens get, the more challenges we, as bespoke kitchen designers, get to solve.

The design process begins with understanding the space and how to make the most of existing features from windows, floors and location. Next, we consider style, ideal function and how the owner will use the space. When thinking about a new kitchen, consider whether you want to create spaces that show off your kitchenware or hide them? Do you want connectivity in the cabinetry and drawers?

Every kitchen that we design is truly unique. We can create bespoke storage features that are tailor-made for your handmade kitchen.

The Rectory Kitchen – In-built Connectivity

For The Rectory Kitchen project in Bath, Somerset, we designed a hidden charging drawer for numerous smart devices. It seems that in-built connectivity and electrics should be considered in all handmade kitchens, ensuring that phones, tablets, and other electronics are much safer and neatly hidden away.

A Kitchen in Bath – Breakfast Cabinet

We designed a bespoke breakfast cabinet for our Kitchen in Bath project. It was designed as a stand-alone piece of furniture. With shelving and panelled doors atop the cool marble surface, the breakfast cupboard is a take on a traditional larder cabinet, but with benefits. Because of the convenience of electrics, it houses a toaster, coffee maker and crockery neatly contained within beautiful cabinetry.

The Cotswolds Manor Kitchen – Custom-Made Drawers

In our Cotswolds Manor Kitchen project, the major handmade kitchen renovation also included a walk-in pantry and pet station. We had a few extra ideas to add and used sliding doors to maximise the use of space. To the sink’s right, we set out a prep area with a recessed knife rack and pull-out food waste drawer. We also created bespoke cutlery drawers that were laid out with ergonomic perfection and not only housed the family cutlery but protected them from damage.

The Bath Kitchen – Hidden Utility

In The Bath Kitchen project, we designed a modern yet classic take on a Mission-style kitchen. The hidden utility was also key to the bespoke kitchen. It needed to be functional and accessible, and hidden during dinner parties and social gatherings. So we developed the concept of a ‘hidden utility room’, which meant the doors to the utility were disguised as kitchen cabinets. The doors nestled neatly into a recess in the open position, creating a panelled door lining as if there were no doors at all.
