As the doors shut on the 2019 100% Design exhibition, and we get back to the office, we always like to compare notes with each other about what we found inspirational.
The event hits it’s 25th anniversary this year and is all the stronger for it. 100% design showcases the best in the UK architecture and design industry and never fails to attract a wide range of exhibitors, experts, and industry leaders. For those in the business of luxury kitchens, it’s a must-attend event.
It’s great to see so much amazing design talent and Papilio have put together some of our favourites from this year. A Papilio bespoke kitchen is all about the fine details, we’re only happy with perfection. Because of that we often linger at the stands that show that same commitment to exacting detail.

We loved this range of finely designed and engineered interior space fixtures and fittings. The range sits well together and can look great in the right setting.
The tactile nature of some of the products is great, too. After all, the tactile nature of turning on a light or switch is an important design consideration.
Papilio don’t just think about form and function, we think about feel too. If we can make you smile when you turn your lights on, we think we’re doing something right.
Designer Doorware

Luxury kitchens mean paying attention to the tiny things that others overlook. When it comes to finding just the right handle or the perfect hinge, Papilio don’t stop looking until we’ve found the perfect match for the design.
Sometimes that means heading over the pond, as is the case with Designer Doorware.
The range on offer here was really exciting and we could see how fantastic some of their items would look in a Papilio bespoke kitchen. The range screamed quality and had some exciting design ideas behind it.

You’d be forgiven for thinking we’re talking about a fabric product, but this is all about light.
Lighting is sometimes not given the credit it deserves when it comes to bespoke kitchen design. As designers, light is always at the forefront of our minds when we’re designing because it has such a huge effect on how the whole design looks.
The collections from Haberdashery really caught our attention, in particular the Introvert / Extrovert collection and the canopy light.
While they don’t suit every design, and are highly specialised pieces, the range from Haberdashery has the potential to produce jaw-dropping light effects in a kitchen. Light meets art in the best possible way.
Keeping our eye on architecture and interior design ideas and trends is one of the bits of our work we love the most. It never ceases to amaze us how design is being constantly pushed forward.
